Chinese manufacturer Godox has announced the Wistro AD600
This new flash is a 600 Ws lithium-ion powered TTL and HSS monobloc that can be triggered by the Godox X1 TTL remotes.
The Godox Wistro AD600 is a self-contained unit, meaning that the battery is attached to the body of the strobe, instead of having a separate battery pack.
The new Godox Wistro AD600 will have twice the power of the Witstro AD360-II and similar features, meaning that is able to do TTL, high-speed sync and remote manual power control via the Godox X1 radios.
These triggers are available for Nikon and Canon, but it is rumoured that a Sony version will be announced soon.
All this additional power means that the AD600 is significantly heavier than the AD360; the AD600 weighs 2.9 kg.
New with the Witstro AD600 is a 10-watt modeling light, a feature that is sought after by many Witstro bare-bulb flash users.
The AD600 will be released in two different versions: one with a Godox accessory mount and another with a Bowens S-fit mount (AD600B).
Both of them will have a lithium-ion battery pack enabling the strobe to fire up to 500 full power flashes. Godox is also planning to release a remote head which allows users to separate the head from the ballast, like a pack-and-head system. This remote head for either the Godox and Bowens version will be available as an accessory.

What is very notable is that with the release of the Wistro AD600 is that Godox is starting to develop a very strong lighting system. There are studio heads, speedlites and ringflashes, that Godox is able to offer and once the new 2.4 GHz FT-16 receiver is released they will all be able to be triggered with the use of the X1 triggers. Personally I think Godox is developing a very good system.

The new movie star: professional video in cinematic resolution
The Leica SL is much more than a professional still-picture camera with video recording capability: it fulfils even the most stringent demands of moviemakers as a fully fledged video camera. Thanks to its 24 MP CMOS sensor and high-performance Maestro II series processor, the Leica SL enables the production of professional videos in 4K resolution. Videos can be recorded in UHD at 30 frames per second or even in Cine4K at 24 frames per second. In full HD, the Leica SL records video at up to 120 frames per second and makes use of the entire sensor area. Here, the logical and intuitive handling concept of the camera makes a clear distinction between still- and motion-picture recording. As soon as the camera is in video mode, the display shows only relevant information for video recording, such as safe area, aspect ratio, zebra function or the recording level of the microphone. An optional audio adapter allows you to connect an external microphone and the audio recording level can be set without accessing the menu. Videos can be output in 4:2:2 10-bit format in 4K resolution over HDMI 1.4.

1. High-resolution images produced by a brand-new sensor with approximately 24 effective megapixels and a new imaging engine
The K-3 is equipped with a new APS-C-size CMOS image sensor (23.5mm×15.6mm) with approximately 24 effective megapixels. By coupling this sensor with a newly developed PRIME III imaging engine with high-efficiency noise and image processing capacities and an anti-aliasing filter-free design, the K-3 delivers high-resolution, fine-gradation images. It also offers a top sensitivity of ISO 51200, for taking detailed images under poor lighting conditions, and to simplify handheld shooting of nightscapes.
2. PENTAX-original SR mechanism to reduce moiré as effectively as an optical anti-aliasingfilter
(1) In-body SR mechanism
The K-3 features a PENTAX-developed SR (Shake Reduction) mechanism that can be used with any compatible PENTAX interchangeable lens.** Thanks to the addition of an SR-dedicated servo controller and an increase in the magnetic force driving the SR unit, this mechanism assures more stable, effective camera-shake compensation than ever before.
(2)The World’s-first***, innovative anti-aliasing simulator function
Newly developed for the K-3, the anti-aliasing simulator**** applies microscopic vibrations to the image sensor unit at the subpixel level during image exposure, generating the same level of moiré-reduction effect as an optical anti-aliasing filter. Unlike an optical anti-aliasing filter that always creates an identical result, this innovative simulator allows the user not only to switch the anti-aliasing filter effect on and off, but also to adjust the level of the effect. This allows the user to set the ideal effect for a particular scene or subject.
(3)User-assisting shooting functions
The SR unit’s flexible design, which tilts the image sensor unit in all directions, is one reason why the K-3 can offer a host of handy shooting functions, including auto level compensation, image-composition fine-adjustment, and ASTRO TRACER, which simplifies advanced astronomical photography in combination with the optional O-GPS1 GPS Unit.

3. Newly designed SAFOX 11 AF module with 27 auto focus points
The K-3 features a new SAFOX 11 AF module with an expanded image-area coverage using 27 AF sensors (25 cross-type sensors positioned in the middle). The centre sensor and two sensors just above and below it are designed to detect the light flux of an F2.8 lens, making it easy to obtain pinpoint focus on the subject when using a large-aperture lens. This newly developed AF module is highly light-sensitive and covers a wide AF working range of –3EV to +18EV. Since the AF module takes data from RGB light sensors into calculation to optimise AF operation, the K-3 also provides such advanced functions as high-accuracy auto-focusing during the shooting of fast-moving subjects, and the zone-select AF mode to automatically select the best possible in-focus point within a designated nine-sensor zone.
4. High-precision exposure control with a new PENTAX Real-Time Scene Analysis System
The K-3 is equipped with newly introduced PENTAX Real-Time Scene Analysis System that consists of approximately 86,000 pixel RGB light-metering sensor and improved algorithm, which allows it to not only control the exposure with extreme accuracy, but also to utilise the data taken in by the light-metering sensor to further enhance the accuracy of auto-focusing and white balance adjustment.. This has expanded the measurable minimum luminance level to as low as –3EV. By detecting the type of scene or subject using the light sensor, the K-3 can not only select the exposure settings that are more consistent with the photographer’s creative intentions, but can also make more precise distinction between the main subject and the background to improve the accuracy of flash discharge level.
5. High-speed continuous shooting with a maximum speed of approximately 8.3 images per second
The K-3 continuously records as many as 22 images in the RAW format or 60 images in the JPEG format***** in a single sequence, at a maximum speed of approximately 8.3 images per second. This has been made possible through the use of several innovative technologies, including a high-speed, high-accuracy control mechanism that regulates the shutter, mirror and diaphragm independently; a damper mechanism that effectively minimizes mirror shock; and a high-speed data transmission system incorporated in the PRIME III imaging engine.

6. Optical viewfinder with new optics, to provide a nearly 100% field of view and a larger, brighter viewfinder image
The K-3’s glass prism has been treated with a new coating designed to improve reflection, resulting in a much brighter viewfinder image. The eyepiece optics have been completely redesigned to assure an approximately 0.95-times viewfinder magnification to provide a broader image field, making it easier for the photographer to confirm the subject’s focusing status and compose the image.
7. Full HD movie recording with creative tools
The K-3 captures beautiful Full HD movie clips (1920 x 1080 pixels; 60i/30P frame rate) in the H.264 recording format, which assures flawless, high-quality movies even with fast moving subjects. It also comes equipped with a stereo mic terminal for external microphone connection and a headphone terminal. The user can even adjust the audio recording level manually and monitor sound levels during microphone recording. In addition to a variety of creative special-effect modes,****** the K-3 also provides an upgraded interval movie mode, which captures a series of 4K-resolution movie clips (3840 x 2160 pixels) at a fixed interval.

In addition to its wide-view design, this monitor also features a protective tempered-glass front panel for added durability, and a unique construction in which the air space between LCD layers is eliminated, effectively reducing the reflection and dispersion of the light to improve visibility during outdoor shooting. The Sigma USB dock works in conjunction with Sigma Optimization Pro software in order to connect a photographers lens to their personal computer to update firmware and other parameters such as focus, and for the Sports category: Autofocus speeds, focus limiters, and optical stabilization functionality. Sanho have updated the application for iUSBport camera control to version 1.54. The app now has a redesigned interface and for the short time I could see the App interface, they have also added a histogram.
Unfortunately for me the App crashes whenever I take an image.
Initially when joining the network with my iPad, the firmware on the iUSBport camera control unit (CameraMator) is updated over wifi.
This part went without a hitch.
I then proceeded to test the unit with the IOS App, the live view screen showed up perfectly and touching the screen focused the camera on the part selected, also now a focus rectangle shows exactly where the focus point is (Something that was missing in the previous version)
Taking an image seemed to work initially, with a .Nef image showing up on the film strip.
On trying to load the image for viewing to access sharpness etc, the App crashed.
I then changed the camera settings to take a raw image on the SD card and a basic small jpeg on the secondary CF slot.
On taking a photo the filmstrip showed an image with a raw.jpeg extension which on trying to load said image into the viewer the App again crashed
After restarting everything again I gave it another try and again the App crashed, so as far as I am concerned the IOS app is still unstable and unusable with my Nikon D800E.
The web App on the other hand seems to be a lot more stable and useable, with everything working as advertised. Using the settings for a small basic jpeg on the CF card, only a jpeg loads on the film strip, which can then be loaded to view in the viewer without problems..
I applaud Sanho for taking over the support of the so far ill fated CameraMator, but it seems that more testing is required before releasing applications that simply do not work correctly.
Maybe the problems are camera specific so anybody reading this who has had success with their cameras and the iUSB camera control app leave a comment, maybe it can be narrowed down to just certain cameras showing problems.
I am sure that eventually they (Sanho) will get it right as they certainly seem to be standing behind the product, but so far for me and my camera the IOS App is still unuseable.
After contacting Hyper Support, I received a very quick reply explaining the reasons for the crashes.
“Are you using iPad 2?
The reason I ask is because iPad 2 is unable to handle the 36 megapixel image taken by the Nikon D800E, hence the app will crash.
Right now when you record both raw and jpg, we are obtaining the 36 megapixel jpg preview image within the raw file.
The reason why we are using the jpg preview within the raw file instead of the actual jpg is because if both raw and jpeg are shot at the same resolution, the jpg preview within the raw file has a smaller file size and will transfer faster than the actual jpg.
In the next version 1.6 which will be available in 1-2 weeks, we will set the app to use the actual jpg instead of the jpg preview of the raw file.
In version 2.0 which will be available in 3-4 weeks, we will allow the user to determine whether to use the actual jpg or jpg preview.
Meanwhile for your case, you can either use the iPad 3 or 4 or shoot in jpg/raw that has smaller than 36 megapixel resolution to prevent the crashing issue.”
Sure enough this worked perfectly reducing the raw file size to the 1.2 setting makes the App work perfectly
Now waiting patiently for the next update. I have to say that the support from Hyper is quick and concise, a very unusual trait these days.

In some very rare cases when certain memory cards were used, movie recording would stop, even when the time remaining display indicated remaining recording time. This issue has been resolved.
With shooting at an image quality setting of TIFF (RGB) and an image size setting of Small, the right edge of images contained a purple line. This issue has been resolved.
In some rare cases, images recorded in JPEG format could not be opened by some software applications. This issue has been resolved.
In some very rare cases, colors would change with shooting when white balance was set to a specific color temperature, as with Preset manual or Choose color temp. This issue has been resolved
The Nikon D4 and D3X also get firmware updates the Nikon D3X update is for the newly released Nikon 800mm Lens.
The Nikon firmware updates for the D800 are causing rumblings on some discussion boards about improved AF performance, part from the continuous AF mode mentioned I doubt anything has changed. My D800E fortunately focuses as good as it always did. I doubt a firmware upgrade could even improve focusing issues. Ever hear of the Placebo Effect?
One good thing is the improved Live View in manual mode for studio shooters or indeed when shooting in dark places.
Still the trap focus does not work as it did on previous models but Nikon claim this is intentional.
I personally see no difference in the display of the Adobe RGB image on the LCD, but I never had the green tint that people were discussing.
